ABOUT SOPHIE
Sophie Bellefeuille is an artist known for her beautiful and loose contemporary paintings inspired by her own flower garden. Her artwork is frequently described as if being illuminated from the back with a pleasantly moving and ambient scenery.
Having worked with international pianists and orchestras as a professional classical ballet dancer, Sophie Bellefeuille perceives her surroundings as if it were a theatrical performance accompanied by music. Her creativity reflects the drama and repose from her artistic experience.
Bellefeuille’s body of work consists of acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings using archival quality materials and high-quality pigments. She greatly enjoys mixing her own colour recipes that are applied through translucent layers, delicate impasto and painterly brushwork. She prefers to paint from life to render sensibility and movements of her subjects. Collections are prepared after months of meticulous sketches and études.
Sophie Bellefeuille A.I.S.T.D., has received a college degree in Pure and Applied Science from John Abbott College, holds an Associate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in Classical Ballet, and has taught and performed ballet in Canada and the United States. She now paints from her studio located in the gorgeous wine region of Niagara, Canada.
